چکیده

The combination of a companion plant with cultivated is considered an interesting strategy to reduce pest pressure and, hence, the use pesticides. Although several plants from Alliaceae and Lamiaceae families are known be efficient against aphid pests, only few Geraniaceae family have been studied so far. aim this work was investigate potential effects Geranium macrorrhizum as on colonization sweet pepper (Capsicum annuum, Solanaceae) by green peach (Myzus persicae). Aphid’s orientation behavior, probing behavior life history traits were assessed using host choice preference setup, Electrical Penetration Graph technique clip-cage laboratory bioassays, respectively. disturbance through mechanical stimulation geranium leaves also assessed. composition VOCs G. analyzed SPME technic followed GC–MS. This study revealed that intrinsically repellent but not enough completely mask attractive odor plant. Moreover, negatively impacted fecundity survival rate M. persicae pepper. exacerbated when mechanically stimulated. could due greater amount main germacrone ?-elemenone emitted following stimulation. Our results bring new insights into novel regulate populations.

Impact of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria and natural enemies on Myzus persicae (Hemiptera: Aphididae) infestations in pepper.

Management of green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) (Hemiptera: Aphididae), in bell pepper, Capsicum annuum L., was explored through a combination of plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and endemic biological control in New York in 2006 and 2007. We hypothesized that by using PGPR-treated peppers 1) M. persicae infestations would be reduced via induced resistance, 2) natural enemie...

Myzus persicae Sulzer aphid contains oxylipins that

Oxylipins are oxygenated fatty acids and their derivatives that play key roles in response to stress. They are widespread in many organisms including mammals or plants but are unknown in arthropods. In this study, we identified oxylipins in Myzys persicae Sulzer aphids reared on Vicia faba L. plants. Further experiments based on: (i) Radiolabelled substrate incubation with aphid extracts, and (...

Plant Essential Oils Synergize and Antagonize Toxicity of Different Conventional Insecticides against Myzus persicae (Hemiptera: Aphididae)

Plant-derived products can play an important role in pest management programs. Essential oils from Lavandula angustifolia (lavender) and Thymus vulgaris (thyme) and their main constituents, linalool and thymol, respectively, were evaluated for insecticidal activity and synergistic action in combination with insecticides against green peach aphid, Myzus persicae (Sulzer) (Hemiptera: Aphididae). ...
